L'Oreal came out with this product a while ago and I'm pretty sure you guys already read a bunch of reviews on it and comparisons with the YSL lipstain. Does it compare? Let's take a look.
There's a total of about 12 shades to choose from (correct me if I'm wrong) and I had a pretty hard time to choose! I wanted to step out of my comfort zone so I picked up #186 in Berry Persistent. It's a very deep berry shade that can we layered up to create a vampy look. I find that the texture of the product is very thin and light but still pigmented. One layer is opaque enough to hide my pigmented lips, but it doesn't apply as evenly as YSL glossy stains. It dries and sets pretty quickly and the shine remains for about 2 hours on me if I don't eat or drink. When the glossy finish disappears, the color remains intact since it's a pretty dark shade. The stain will get lighter as the day (or night) progress, especially if you drink and eat a lot but won't completely disappear. You still have to use a makeup remover on your lips at the end of day!
I didn't find the formula to be moisturizing on my lips, but it didn't dried them out either. It doesn't highlight dry flakes on your lips, but I'd still recommend you to exfoliate before using it. The packaging is very nice and the applicator is similar to YSL glossy stain. I don't think it's a dupe of YSL glossy stain simply because the texture is different. The high-end one is thicker, more consistent and opaque. One layer applies evenly nd keeps my lips moisturized. L'Oreal is a lot thinner, application is not consistent and it doesn't really moisturizes my lips. However, I do think that L'Oreal wet shine stain is a great alternative to YSL glossy stain. Plus, the lighter shades of the glossy stains (#18 and #19, see swatches here) do appear on my lips, whereas the lighter shades in L'Oreal wet shine stain are on the sheer side and might to appear on pigmented lips.
If you're looking into darker colors, I would say save your money and get the L'Oreal ones. If you want lighter colors, I suggest you take a look into YSL glossy stains.
On another note, I'll be having a blogsale soon!
Have a great week beautifuls!!

Bummer! I usually gravitate towards the lighter colors when it comes to lip products. Now I'll have to reconsider picking up a L'Oreal stain then...T:

It is very dark! It's definitely out of my comfort zone but I think it's can be pulled out for a night out ;)
ReplyDeleteAgree! I wouldn't wear this for a day look ;)
ReplyDeleteYes me too!! I love my light pinks and peach/coral ^_^ I would suggest picking up Myabelline Color Whisper though! The lighter colors are pigmented! I love petal rebel & lust for blush :)
ReplyDeleteI only own one shade of this line (coral tattoo) and I really like it! I agree that they aren't as pigmented as YSL version but for the price it is at I think it does a good job. I like the formula of the L'Oreal, even though it is thinner I feel like it makes it very comfortable. YSL's version is very comfortable too though!
ReplyDeleteI agree! ;)
