Bobbi Brown, Sephora, BeneFit's badgal, Makeup Forever & BE's liner reviews
What kind of makeup do you guys absolutely have to put before leaving the house? For me it would be concealer, Bare escentuals mineral veil and the most important of all, EYELINER! lol :)
When I started to use makeup, maybe 1 or 2 years ago, I would only use eyeliner. However, since I have asian eyes, I have a small lid and when my eyes are wide opened, it seems that i'm monolid (but i'm not! har har har) so a lot of eyeliner tends to smudge and smear on my upper lid after a few minutes or hour. I was so desperate for the perfect liner that wouldn't budge! So here I am with a bunch of eyeliners :)
Bobbi Brown's Long-wear gel liner @approx.25$ @Murale. (This image is not mine) I must say that this gel liner is totally my favorite liner. It doesn't smudge, doesn't transfer and smear even after a whole day spent in the summer (okay I must admint, summers in Montreal aren't THAT hot but still!) or a few hours of clubbing. It is really long lasting and maybe waterproof even if it doesn't state it is? I splashed some water on my face once and rubbed it on a towel after and tada! the liner was still here o_O I also really like the texture of it. It goes on really smooth and easy. I got it in black ink and I must say it pretty black! But, the inconvenient part is that you have to use a brush to apply it and it doesn't come with a brush. I use it with a angle brush it I find it amazing. It might be difficult for some of you to apply it if your not good with brushes or you are new pot liner so I wouldn't recommend pot liner to beginners. If you are comfortable with it then go ahead and break a leg! I would recommend it and buy it again when i'll be done with it. This little pot last reaaallly a long time and I got it at Murale for about 25$CAD if my memory is good. Bobbi Brown is NOT available at Sephora.
Sephora brand retractable waterproof eyeliner 16$CAD @Sephora.com or sephora stores. I have them in black, brown, purple and silver. These eyeliner pencils are my favorite. Like they're awesome! I tried both Makeup Forever's Aqua Eyes and these ones. I must admit that I prefer the Sephora brand ones. The texture is creamy, it applies smoothly without tugging and is really long-lasting. It transfers sometimes a little bit on my upper lid but a little bit of UDPP (Urban decay primer potion) underneath and bit of shadows does the trick. If you are more likely to smudge you liner, it smudges well but make sure to make it fast because it doesn't move after hehe. It's easy to use, you have a sharpener included at the end and great for beginners or people on the go. I liked them so much I bought it in 3 other colors lol. You can see the swatches below. The only thing that I don't really like about pencils is that you waste some product when you sharpen them. Other than that, I would recommend it :)
Bare Escentuals Bare minerals shadow liners 16$CAD (This image is not mine) @Sephora or Murale. I got it in Onyx. Okay so the first thing that came to my mind when I got this was "how the hell I am supposed to use this? It's black, it's powdery, I'm going to make a mess!" I got it in a kit that I bought on special at Winners, YAAYY! Ok back to reality. So yeah, I was trying to figure out how to use this stuff and a light snapped. With a angle brush! Duuuh.. I was really suprised when I saw the result because I didn't expect that it would be so pigmented and it actually hold pretty well. It gives a nice natural look and you can build up the color if you want to. It's easy to work with, doesn't make a mess (unless you drop the whole pot) and last really a long time. The only drawback is thaat... it doesn't last on me. I have oily lids so the liner would go everywhere on my upper lid after a few hours. Ok maybe not a few hours, give it a 6 hours lol but it stays on perfectly on the waterline. I have mixed feelings about it so I wouldn't really recommend it because it's like using a black eyeshadow as a liner.
Make Up Forever Aqua eyes ( MUFE Aqua Eyes) 19$CAD @Sephora or in certain La Baie.
I remember reading so much good reviews on this pencil and people where raving about it that I decided to give it a try. In fact, it was the first waterproof non-drugstore-brand eyeliner that I bought LOL! Since it was so pricey I asked for help at a sales clerk at Sephora to make sure that I was going for the right thing and she brought me to MUFE'S aqua eyes right away. This liner is good but not great. There are some days that it stays totally in place and there's no trace no smudging and some other days that it smears and smudges a little bit. I don't really like it because the texture is not creamy and application goes on streaky sometimes and it doesn't glide well. I guess it also depend on the person's skin texture and stuff but I wouldn't buy it again. I'm sticking with my sephora brand :)
Sephora Brand Long Lasting liquid liner 12$CAD @Sephora. I've always been a big fan of liquid liner because of it's clean cut line and I don't need to worry about it being smudged or smeared during the day. This eyeliner is great either if you want to have a subtle thin line or a bold one. The applicator is very thin and the liquid liner is very black (I got the black one) so it emphasize your eyes without having those big bold lines. I don't know why but this liquid liner makes my eyes turn red and it burns them when I wear it for too long. It's sad because I really like it and it's not like my eyes are super sensitive! It is long lasting but the fact that it makes my eyes turn red won't make me repurchase it again. Boo.
